About Us
Group1FX was born in 2020 from a combination of 25 years working in the financial markets and a love of the bloodstock industry.
A born and bred Sydney boy I’ve spent the past 25 years working for some of the worlds largest interbank brokers and investment banks in London , Hong Kong , Wellington & Sydney - & since 2010 specialising in the foreign exchange payments sector where I look after a number of Australian and NZ group one trainers, stud farms, bloodstock agents & syndicators.
In late 2008 I took a year off from the financial markets and was very fortunate to work with New Zealand’s premier racing stables TeAkau. During this time I was able learn more about the bloodstock industry from one of the best judges of horseflesh in the business Mr David Ellis and champion NZ trainer Mark Walker. My time with them was truly life changing and I met some amazing people who I still regard as my close friends to this day & I always enjoy seeing them when I do my yearly trip to the karaka sales to catch up with clients .
I got introduced to the racing & breeding “bug” in my final years at Boarding school in Sydney when my roommate invited me to the races for the very first time to watch his families horse win the 1992 Golden Slipper with Burst and ever since then I was hooked ! Who wouldn’t be !
I want to combine my extensive foreign exchange knowledge & my love of bloodstock to assist people in the industry with their international payments by giving them a personalised service and offering them extremely competitive exchange rates which will save them a considerable amount of money over the course of year.
